Marathon Paving crew laying a new asphalt driveway in Worcester, MA

Why Marathon

A local crew you can actually reach

We are based in Worcester and we work the neighbourhoods we live in: Main South, Vernon Hill and Burncoat, out toward Tatnuck and Holden, and the older streets in between. That matters more than it sounds. The triple-decker driveways here are shared, tight and decades old, and they need a different approach than a new-build cul-de-sac in Northborough does.

  • Written, itemised quotes with no surprise add-ons
  • Licensed, bonded and fully insured in Massachusetts
  • Our own equipment and crew, never subcontracted
  • Clear start and finish dates, confirmed before we begin
  • Site swept and left clean at the end of every job

How it works

Three steps from quote to cured

  1. Site visit & written quote

We measure the area, check how water moves off it and what shape the base is in, then send an itemised quote within 24 hours.

  2. Scheduled & prepped

You get a confirmed date. We prep the surface, protect what is around it, and tell you exactly when access will be limited.

  3. Paved, sealed, swept

The work gets done, the site gets swept, and we walk you through cure times and what to avoid before we drive off.

Common questions

Before you book anyone

The questions we get asked most. If yours is not here, ask on the phone. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

How long does a residential driveway take?

One to three days for most jobs. A straightforward twelve hundred square foot drive with a sound base is usually a single day. Removing an old surface adds time, and significant base or drainage work can add another. The number of days is written on your quote with confirmed start and finish dates before we book you in.

How soon can I drive on it?

Foot traffic the same day, vehicles after twenty four to forty eight hours depending on temperature. Asphalt stays soft for several weeks after that. Avoid parking in the identical spot every night, do not turn your wheels while stopped, and keep jack stands, kickstands and trailer tongues off the surface. Most first-year damage comes from those three things.

How often should I sealcoat?

Every two to three years for most residential driveways. Annual sealing is a waste of money and actively counterproductive, because it builds a thick brittle layer that cracks under its own rigidity independently of the asphalt beneath. The practical test is water: if it still beads and the colour is dark rather than grey, wait another season.

What is your minimum for sealcoating?

Five hundred dollars, which covers getting the crew and equipment to your property and doing the job properly. If your driveway is genuinely smaller than that we will tell you rather than padding the quote to reach the number.

How long before I can drive on sealed asphalt?

Usually twenty four to forty eight hours depending on temperature and humidity, and we give you the specific answer for your job before we leave. Driving on uncured sealer leaves tyre marks that do not come out, and turning wheels on it while stopped scuffs it straight off.
